Where It All Began (1993)

Our story started in 1993, in the heart of Chennai’s textile hub. The market was competitive, the standards were high, and the challenges were aplenty. But we were undaunted by the task ahead.

From day one, our focus was clear:

We began as an exclusive boutique for Kanjivaram Silk Sarees, a weave that remains the pride of Tamil Nadu and the soul of Tulsi Silks.

Over time, our offerings expanded to include several much-loved weaves such as:

• Soft Silk Sarees
• Tussar Silk
• Linen Sarees
• Cotton Sarees
• Raw Silk Sarees
• Banarasi Sarees
• Ikat Sarees

and many more heritage-rich textiles that India cherishes.

Our Home for Two Decades

Our trip down memory lane takes us back to our first store in Alwarpet, Chennai, right opposite the Hanuman Temple.

(Incidentally, this temple is where our founder was inspired to name the brand Tulsi — the sacred leaves symbolised purity, divinity, and the values the brand would forever stand for.)

This quaint store was our home for 20 long years, where:

• We refined our skills
• Strengthened our values
• Shaped our vision
• Understood our customers
• And built meaningful relationships

It is here that Tulsi Silks grew from a dream into a trusted name for traditional sarees in Chennai.

Moving Into a New Era

From a humble single-floor store, we organically transitioned into our current spacious three-floor showroom, including dedicated areas for:

• Our administrative office
• Our in-house design studio
• Our quality and finishing teams

When we began in 1993, we were a team of 40 members. Today, our Tulsi Silks family has grown to nearly 100 people, and we say family because that’s truly what we are.
