The Ethereal Kora or Organza Silk Sarees

What is Kora or Organza?

Organza or originally called Kora is one of the prettiest fabrics since the time it was known. It is a thin sheer fabric made of a plain weave and the word Organza is derived from the word “Organzine” which denotes a material made from strong silk yarns that are twisted into strands. Organza sarees or Kora silk sarees, just as their name suggests are strong and tensile and have a see-through texture because of the nature of their weave.

How is Kora or Organza made?

Organza fabric is a work of art whose quality is unparalleled. Organza is skilfully hand-crafted using silk, polyester or nylon threads which contribute to the strength of this fabric. First, the silk fibres are twisted tightly to make the yarn which is then treated with chemicals to make it stiff. Then the yarns are handwoven together using the plain weave method, where the warps and wefts are woven in a criss-cross pattern in equal ratio sheer and gossamer fabric with a lustrous finish. The quality of organza is determined by the number of holes per inch. Organza silk sarees appear delicate and smooth but they are also very firm.

For the love of Organza

Organza sarees have been around for a very long time and still have a special place in a women’s saree collection. Organza sarees are more than just sarees. Draping an organza saree feels ethereal because of its crisp and lightweight feel and it accentuates the feminine qualities which makes them even more desirable.

To look your best in any organza saree you just need to drape it right as it is a stiff fabric and make the pleats wide enough to maintain the streamlined structure. If you do this correctly, the organza saree will ooze charm and beauty. Another thing would be leaving the pallu to hang instead of pleating it because an organza saree is a fabric that is best in its natural form without folding or pleating. Additionally pairing your organza saree with the right blouse is the most important tip as there’s nothing that a blouse can’t do.
